Green Card

I gave it a try. I am not one to make cards, but it was this weeks challenge for Project Catwalk and I couldn't give up. The rules were to use green, cellophane wrapper from any scrapping product and newspaper to make an envelope. I sewed on cellophane pockets and filled them with green shamrock punch outs. I stitched together an envelope and then I was done. The other girls made some really awesome cards if I do say so myself. The inside of the card says "Best of Luck"

Mr Campy anyone???? and WHOA Batman

Me being a huge Scrap Blog fan noticed on their blog that they are having a awesome challenge/giveaway!!!!! I mean we are talking a Nikon D60 or 10 runner ups will have all of their Scrap blog layouts made into a keepsake photobook!!! I mean, both prizes are great, and you don't have to pull my arm to go make a layout over on Scrap Blog, so I did.

The journaling says it all..........................yes maybe I am a bit obsessed with the new Cosmo Cricket line, I admit it, but I mean come on can you blame me?? Its just my thing:)

OK, OK, so last night we went and saw "The Dark Knight" at Imax in Union Square. WOW!
I am not an action person, not big on action films, I usually lose interest, which is weird right?
I am more of a drama, indie, romantic/comedy kinda girl.
However I do love me some Batman! I am also a Spiderman fan and the old school Superman film watcher(which has been ages now since I last saw)
Anyway, I was blown away, almost literally. I would recommend going to your nearest IMAX and seeing this film, its a whole new experience.
Aside from that it was just a awesome film, with brilliant acting on all parts, especially Mr. Ledger. His performance definitely lived up to all the talk. Words cannot even define the way he took over the part of the joker and captivated the audience with laughter and gasps.
He truly does deserve some recognition, either if he was still alive.
Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and even Maggie Gyllenhaal all did a terrific job.
Plus I must say that I have had thing for Christian Bale since I was a kid, when he was in Empire of the Sun:) Oh and Little Women(a far cry from being Batman)

So go see it, you will not be disappointed!

The Ocean Breathes Salty...CHA-Ching *#1 Craft Critique Challenge

Today I worked on this following piece. I am in love with the new Cosmic Cricket "Go jump in a lake" paper, I love the design of it(I have an image of it a few posts below) This layout was for a challenge over on SIS, one of the Craft Critique challenges. I used the whole wave and sky with cloud thing, and I also added buttons, shells, stitching, some distressing and journaling. The journaling is from one of my favorite Modest Mouse songs, "The Ocean Breathes Salty", just love it and it was the first thing that came to mind when I started this piece. And there you have it:)

Thank you Will for scanning it and piecing it together for me, you my boy blue!

"Your body may be gone, I'm gonna carry you in.
In my head, in my heart, in my soul.
And maybe we'll get lucky and we'll both live again.
Well I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. Don't think so.

Well that is that and this is this.
You tell me what you want and I'll tell you what you get.
You get away from me. You get away from me.
Collected my belongings and I left the jail.
Well thanks for the time, I needed to think a spell.
I had to think awhile. I had to think awhile.

The ocean breathes salty, won't you carry it in?
In your head, in your mouth, in your soul.
And maybe we'll get lucky and we'll both grow old.
Well I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I hope so."

week 1

its getting close......

So over at SIS I am participating in the "Project Catwalk" challenge. Basically they are challenges pretty much going along with Project Runway, Scrapping style. Each week when you finish a layout you earn points for being on time, using the proper items, etc. This week we had to use two items or more from a list of the stuff they used on the show. I cannot show what I did, NOT until Sunday 10pm Central time, this is very hard for me!!!!! I will tell you that I used coffee filters and rubber cupboard lining(am I even suppose to tell you that?)
I can say that at first I was struggling and giving up and then in the end I pulled it together, and I like what I did. So on Sunday night I will share it on here, for now I look forward to who the winners are for this week and what everyone else did.

New Scrap booking store opening in NYC= brilliance. Why hasn't this ever been done before??? hmmmm????????

I joined the hype, I have set aside books on European History(especially Tudor history) and have purchased "Twilight" I'm sure after I read this book I will be right back, and my next book will be "Mary Queen Of Scots" This may be pretty boring to some, but I find European history extremely interesting without a doubt.

The heat is making for somewhat painful days. Good thing I'm only a few footsteps away from the bay, I think tomorrow I shall go for a swim!

Love will tear us apart.............

Um, yeah, just finished watching "Control" which is a movie about the lead singer of Joy Division(Ian Curtis) I recommend it. Its filmed all in black and white and is bitter/sweet, one of those rock star goes lost sort of stories. What a great band, seriously, oh how I love Joy Division. So see it if your a fan as well.

Words aren't flowing very well from my mind at the moment, I think its because Project Runway is coming on in like 2 minutes, so I'm a bit preoccupied and maybe I should not be doing a blog entry at the moment, but oh well:)

Yes so in 1 minute season 5 of Project Runway will be on, and I'm ready, bring it.

I just had to do a little blurb, a little something something.

Oh, I got theeee best chair for my desk, LIME GREEN I tell ya, THANK YOU IKEA!!!!!!!!
As if you really care:)

Tomorrow I am going to commit to some challenges and actually be productive, because I have not been and its so blahness.

Im wired..................

To the Internet that is:) I have been working from my boyfriend's computer which has made posting and fiddling around online a little hard. My laptop is full of all my images and programs as well as bookmarked sites that I would use, so its been hard to do the things I want to do without the use of the Internet on my laptop. PLUS, its just better to have two computers that have Internet on them seeing that we both spend a bit of time online. So I went and bought a wireless router and it was super easy to install and up and running in 1, 2, 3. Love it.

This weekend we went into Brooklyn for Will's best friend's Vegan wedding, which was interesting. The one thing I do not get is, if you are vegan, then why do you shape tofu and all that jazz into chicken wings and meat looking products??? I just don't get it. Hmmmm, maybe its just me, but I mean Buffalo Vegan chicken wings with wood dowels down the middle???!!! I'm just confused. Otherwise aside all that unimportant info, the wedding was nice. We all attended an after party at a bar down in the village, listened to a really good band that was all instrumental and which was the groom's brother's band called "Cover me Bad" They did all covers and the tuba player played all the vocal parts, pretty cool in deed. We got back home at like 4am and I was out like a light until 2 pm today, it felt good.

Tomorrow at 5pm eastern time I will pick my winner from the Birthday blog post.
Should be fun:)

We scored "The Dark Knight" tickets to an Imax theatre in the city, cannot wait!!!

Oh, I found out that I'm getting published at Scrap' N Art, so I had to remove the layout from all online outlets. That's pretty exciting! (Its not a definite, some publications can run out of room at the last minute, but they say thats rare)

Ive been seeing some stuff that is being shown at CHA this summer, and I'm so loving allot of it.
Cosmo Cricket is putting out some lines that I like, but I'm really digging these two paper:
I believe they are called "Go Jump in a lake" I love the colors and the vintage appeal. Great stuff.

OK, I'm off to get some more coffee and catch up on the Internet.

I might just share some stuff tomorrow, its calling for rain.

1 year!

A year ago today I started blogging. I began with just saying hello and talking about myself and then I moved on to interviews of other creative people(go ahead and archive them if you would like to read, some fun stuff) I finally then got back to what I love doing best and that was creating for me and for others and blogging about it, and I have to say that not only is it addictive but its also fun. I have met so many awesome people through this blog, other bloggers, other artists and I think its just amazing and I'm so grateful!!! So here's to one year of being an avid blogger and making things.

Leave a comment maybe with your favorite creative link and be entered into winning a little something, something from little ole me.

Have a great sunny day!!!! AND THANK YOU!!!!

Im done

I'm done moving:) Time to make some super de duper things, lol. Um, yay, went up to my old home with my girl. We chit chatted the whole way there, so much fun, so much catching up. She is such a good friend I tell ya. It was way to hot though, I just wanted to swim instead of move boxes and crap pretty much. BUT its done, thank you thank you. Excited as well, my desk is built, now I just need to make it all nice and accessible. Tomorrow, beach for sure unless it decides to be grumpy again and indecisive, we will see.

Oh how I love you NY!!!

ga ga for new things, new places and past happenings.

4Th of July= freaking fantastic!!! I got to see my Sara, WHO I'm soooo very very proud of for sure. We visited a little shin dig her family was having and then we hit the town I used to live in. Its a very small, touristy sort of place on the water and they have a few good bars. I also visited a restaurant another one of my friends works at, yet another friend who I haven't seen in awhile and it was great to see her as well. We stayed there for quite a bit, just catching up and what have yous. We then caught a bit of fireworkage and then we headed down to the a nice place on the dock, where there was alot of familiar people bumping into(interesting to say the least, but a good time) I would say over all this 4Th was the best Ive had in a few years. A+.

DIRECTLY after the wonderful weekend I set out to pack up my life belongings, once again. I minds well be a damn Gypsy I tell you. AND it always seems as though I just acquire more stuff to pack, its just me and my sentimental ways I guess. Tomorrow is the big pick up and bring to storage facility with my girl Mel. We will make fun of it, which will make it way less stressful. Then by tomorrow night I shall be done with this temporary move, find a job, save more money and then get a place somewhere.

OK now for new things....................IKEA goodness, new desk, super sweet and in a black wood finish. Finally a desk for me to do all my art stuff on, I couldn't be any happier. It will be built tomorrow by Will and when I get home I can use it and make it all mine. I never thought I would be so happy about getting a desk!!! But I am, its probably because for the past 10 years or so I have been using floors or beds to do my artwork on, finally a real work surface. Well something good came out of the moving part, I got a space for creating. And I will take that any day.

Must go organize a bit now.
Peace!

Happy 4th!

Happy 4Th of July to all my fellow Americans. I usually don't do very much on this day because of all the drunken idiots taking to the road, but this year I am heading out for a little BBQ/friend time. It should be good, here's to Independence and of course new beginnings as I stated in the last post.

The above photo booth images were taken in San Fransisco on the pier in the Museum of Mechanisms. I just had to!!!

Have a wonderful holiday, and to all the non American people I love, have a wonderful day/weekend!!!!!

One for the road!

Two weeks on vacation in California and now two weeks of moving(hopefully less) I am heading back to NY, which I'm very happy and excited about and also sad at the same time. This is not unexpected, it had been thought over and pretty much expected for awhile now. I look forward to new beginnings and being a New Yorker again, CT is pretty dull and boring for my tastes and I miss being somewhere that has more happening. So before I head out I am leaving you with another photo over loaded entry. I will not have access to my laptop(but I will have access to the Internet on a desk top) and therefore my hard drive that has all my California images, so I just wanted to get as many more on here as I could before I wont be able to. OK, off to pack!

Fisherman's Wharf in beautiful San Fransisco!

This would be the lovely island that is home to Alcatraz, and yes that there would be Alcatraz where good ole Al Capone spent a little vacation time:)

These machines are from the museum of Mechanisms. This museum housed all the old games and such that were at Playland in San Fransisco. I highly recommend visiting this FREE Museum at which you are allowed to still play all the games for only a quarter each. I mean they had machines from the early 1900's there(pretty darn cool) Another awesome thing they had there were the old, old photo booths which still work. You can believe that I sure as hell sat in them and got my pictures taken!

The above image is from Boudin Sourdough Bakery, the supposed first people to bake fresh bread one the pier??? Oh, or was it the first to serve the soup bowl in the bread? Hmmmm, anywho this image is of the massive windows they had out front that showed you them making the bread right in front of you. This were shaped as various sea creatures!!! ouuuuuuuuuuuuuu.

Had to do the Fish and chips for Will, and they were pretty damn good.

This is for you Will

Views of the pier, gorgeous!

The sea lions, what a show they gave. These guys took over the docks down at the piers a few years ago(not quite sure when) But these docks used to house boats and people would come and go, until the sea lions came along and stole the docks to chill and relax.

This sea lion was suchhhhhhhhhhh a drama queen, seriously! It was laying there like it fainted and it kept on doing it, maybe it escaped from Sea World?!

WWII Ships

This is a WWII submarine, pretty tight quarters!
And that concludes this picture post, more at a later date:)

Snail-a-licious

The above image in my banner of the snail was taken by me on my trip to California. There was a sidewalk that we walked down quite a bit that we labeled "Snail Death Valley" This is because every time you walked down this sidewalk there would be tons and tons of dead snails everywhere(basically just the shell) Snails take a wee bit long time to cross such a big piece of pavement and with that dry California sunshiny heat, they are definetly goners. HOWEVER, one day while walking down "Snail Death Valley" we came across one little guy that just wouldn't give up, he was snailing away. I felt bad for him so I picked him up and brought him to the other side where I figured he was heading in the first place. I then named him Will, because just like my boyfriend Will, he was super slow(like in a old lady sort of way) So the above image is of Will the snail who made it out alive from "Snail Death Valley"

Thee End!

eye candy, heavy picture post......

For the next two days or so I am going to be posting my pictures of California on my blog. It definitely makes it easier for me to share them with my friends and family, so just be prepared for picture overload, for at least 2 more days like I said:)

These are all images from the Haight and Ashbury district. There was always something to take a photo of and I wish I could go back and take yet more.

The post with the pictures of the mountains were from the Del Valle state park in Livermore California. It had been quite smokey out, so the view wasn't that clear. The images didn't come out perfect but I fiddled with them a bit and decided to share them. The mountains here are so different compared to the East coast, where as we have more forresty sort of mountains and here in California its more of a bare mountain with just grass(dried up during the summer) and an occasional tree or vineyard. Next post is going to be pictures I took at Fisherman's Wharf as well as China Town and just around Livermore.

Welcome

So its time for a change. On July 11Th I will have spent a year here at Blogger, well blogging:) I decided I wanted to give my little personal space on the Internet a remodel. Seeing that I'm very far from home and without many resources I mixed and mingled and used Picnik, Scrap Blog, google images and Photoshop to whip something up, and I feel it fits. I loved my old banner because it was made by the brilliant Leigh-Ann over at Freckled Nest(if you need a banner or a blog remake, go visit her page) But it was time.

OK off to pack up to head home.
