Feeling wonky.

Yes, wonky. Lack of sleep, damn LIRR dosent run late hours, kinda got stranded at Penn Station.

Yesterday I worked till 4:45ish and the plan was to meet up with my friends and have a few beers down at this hole in the wall, cheap place. Well one beer turned into 3 or 4 and I winded up going to see The Grateful Dead play a secret show over at Roseland ballroom. How lucky was I?

It was a great show, danced the whole night and I also got to see my friends from Mass. who I haven't seen in awhile. A complete surprise. I just walked into the venue and spotted my friend's dreadlocks and his girlfriends and I was soo very happy.

Earlier in the night we had a canadian couple come over and save us from some jerk trying to hit on us. We winded up hanging out with them for a few hours, really nice people. Added them to my facebook(good ole facebook, connecting us all).

I don't have much to blog about lately.

My work schedule was sort of wonky last 2 weeks, and I was struck down with a cold and tooth problem, but who the hell wants to blog about that?

This weekend we got a new baby parakeet, who we named Sunshine because of her yellow color. No pictures yet, she is still shy and scared, don't need to further stress her with cameras.

Soon though.

any louder. Its funny to see all the business men NY mornings still add amusement to the beginning of my work day. Today it appeared that someone was having a spat down in the subway, it was around 7:40am and it couldn't have beendumbfounded on what to think, and if they should look. All prim and proper, haha. Besides that, the same usual rudeness that occurs all throughout transit, oh well.

This morning was a Bjork morning. She put me in a good mood.

A few more hours and then im off to find cheap pitchers of beer with my friend's somewhere in midtown. Then I have a day off tomorrow. YAY!

Sick day....

Sickness has spread, need a day of rest. But must share this beauty..................................

Now what draws me in is 1) I am a huge fan of the book 2) they use the Arcade Fire's "Wake up" in the trailer 3) James Gandolfini is the voice of Carol 4) Spike Jonze directed it and if you follow him, he has done some great stuff and well 5) it just looks magical

Also I heard the Tim Burton is doing a remake of Alice in Wonderland, and of course Johnny Depp will be in it, as the mad hatter. Oh goodness, I hope Tim does good on this.

I learned about all of this information from one of my favorite Flickr people at the moment(she works on alot of Blythe dolls and is in an fantastic band)

Gossip Girl is on, my guilty, trash TV Monday night pleasure. Oh its fantastic.

Today was a good day, pretty fast, smooth running, not to shabby. The neighborhood I work in was having a rather large get together with many well known celebrities to promote a better proposal for a soon to be sanitation area of sorts. I don't know all the details, but all I know is that they want to place one of those salt sheds(for snow) and some sort of garbage area over near the Hudson River were I work. It would be an eye sore, and a possible health problem for many of the locals. So they are all coming together tonight, to I guess really get their point across, something along the lines of that. I decided to come home instead, yes, yes I know I'm rather lame, but I just couldn't. Blah blah blah.

Yesterday I went and visited my friend in Brooklyn, and was so very happy to see her doing good:) Cant wait to see her again.





Found a few picture worthy things in the neighborhood. Its called DUMBO(in Brooklyn), which stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. It was such a quite neighborhood.





After our visit we headed on over to the East Village, hit up Toy Tokyo of course(more re-ment)

Then me and Will finally tried out that new craze that has taken over NYC and all across the country(especially California) Bubble Tea. It was, well, rather interesting.




I had a mango green tea and Will had the apple green tea. I don't think they made it rather well because the tapioca balls were slightly mushy, like slimy. AND I knew better because I read a not so great review on the place, so next time its off to Chinatown for some way better stuff.






So back to my description of this thing called Bubble tea that most of you already know of and have, on like a daily basis. It was very different, the tea tasted good, but the tapioca balls had no flavor what so ever, I think I even swallowed a few. I don't know, maybe some of you know how its suppose to taste and you can tell me. I was a tad disappointed I suppose. But, I will be having it again, just at a different place, see how it is there.





After the bubble tea tasting, we headed on over to Pommes Frites, had some great fries, chilled out on some ledge like two bums while people walked by and stared at us. That's how we do. Curry Ketchup is the way to go.








Of course that was followed by a visit to Bull Mcabes, as always.

So that was my weekend pretty much.

In other news, on the train ride home tonight I met a very cute old gentlemen named George.
The train was jammed pack, because 1)it LIRR and 2) they were having some sort of issues again, some sort of fire or something causing delays(hmmmm, I wonder what their excuse was the past week, month, year!)

Anyway, so the train was so crowded and people were standing in the aisles, and there was George. I kept looking over at him trying to get his attention, because I like to give up my seat to older people, pregnant people, or even people who just look worn out( I can sense good vibes) but I never caught his attention. He just looked like a nice old man, who had a long day and deserved to sit, but no one was budging. I was to far away to really do something. But after the girl next to me got up and left, he came and sat in the seat next to me and we starting talking. I told him I was trying to get his attention to come and take my seat, he then told me that both of his knees were fake and how he just had a hip replacement, I felt so bad. Aside from that, he was such a nice person, he was talking about all his grand kids, and his job, and how his wife is away and its like a vacation for him:) He was to cute. It just pisses me off that everyone is just so damn selfish now a days and its all about them, I like to try and think that some people have manners and still do the right thing, I know I try to.

Oh well, here's to those of us who do!

Is it Sunday already??

Yes it is, bummer. Today we are off to Brooklyn to visit a friend, probably be there for around 2 hours and then head on over to the East Village just for a stroll and perhaps...........................Toy Tokyo:) I think so, I need a good visit there.

Yesterday I found a cheap bookcase at the Church Sale down the road, thank goodness. We had been using some cheap IKEA(don't get me wrong, I love IKEA), wobbly wood rack things for my books, which always fell down. For the past week my books(and some comic books) had been resting on the floor in heaping piles. I was starting to like it that way until I came across a $10 white bookcase at this sale. It needed a good cleaning(it smelt like grannies house) but now it houses all those books, nice and neat as well as a little bit of my Hello Kitty collection on top.

Also tucked in there is that collectible Kathie Olivas "Beaumont Figure" that I got at the comic con this year. It has been sitting in its box this whole time, I was afraid to put it somewhere, where it may get knocked over and *gasp* get broken!




Well that's my excitement for the weekend.............................a Ten dollar book case. Yay!!!

In the morning I go to work super early, so I never have time to make coffee. That means I have to sit on a train for hour in my non- coffee bad mood. I guess my coffee comes in the form of music till I get to the city and have a chance to pick up a cup.

Im back..............

Well I have re-joined The Creative Type team as I have mentioned a few posts ago. Love the little family that has grown, who are better known as the typists. I was ready to get back in and get to work. Prompt #13 "Lyrical" Its all about the music, lyrics, their so powerful to most of us. To me, so many songs I can tie to a moment, an event, a time in my life, a person. With this one, I choose Van Morrison's "Into The Mystic" The picture I used in the layout just makes me think of that song. It was taken out east where I used to live and well Van Morrison reminds me of those times when I lived out there.

Monday oh sweet Monday.

I have off today, yay. The people I work for will be flying back into NYC tonight, so I will be back to work tomorrow around 11am, not to shabby.

Wed. was a night out with my sister, we had sushi and saw "Hes Just not that into you" which by the way was a cute movie. I then spent Thursday and Friday visiting my parents and having our St. Pat's dinner.

Then it was onto weekend at Ernie's (Ernie is my friend Erin's nickname)



Friday night was girls night out to the brewery to see a band play, then a quick stop at the local watering hole.

Next day was the St. Pat's Day parade in West Hampton, some more girlie chit chat which involved pranking some friends(how old are we again) We then formed our band and rocked out on Rock Band(now that was funny, because I can sing, especially after a few beers)




So alot of fun, alot of catching up, a whole lot of pictures, good times.

And finally better images of my Blythe and the carving I did to her face. Plus she has some clothes now!

Friday check in.

So I'm sitting here at my parents, drinking coffee, watching TV, going on the Internet, talking to my dad(he is napping right now) whatever I can find to do. It seems that whenever I go away, that's when I get all these ideas to make stuff, BUT I don't have anything with me...............blah. It will all just have to wait till Sunday when I'm back home and I can work on my first challenge back at The Creative Type, excited about that. I think now that I purged some stuff out of my stash, I am not so overwhelmed, well at least I'm hoping that I wont be.

Time for me to share some stuff that I have been enjoying:

I love the prompt that Jen and Kim have over at Work your soul. I am a paper hoarder, I just organized stacks of it on Tuesday. The sculpture, dress, boots, mobiles, oh my goodness. Love them. But most off all that pillow their guest designer Jamaica came up with, how brilliant:) Now all I need is my very own couch to fill with all kinds of pretty pillows made from scanned vintage paper turned fabric(does that make sense?) It a good way to use those favorite papers but yet do no harm to them, no cutting, none of that. I also loved what Jen came up with, love that style of hers . I love all the inspiring ideas my friends come up with, that is why I love this whole community and just had to come back:)

I have been visiting this blog quite alot this past winter. I love all of the images, especially when they lived in NYC for a little while, all the photos they took of different places and things. It was fun recognizing alot of those, and knowing exactly why they took a picture of this or that. NYC is really a great diverse place with something interesting on each corner, from Brooklyn to The east Village, gotta love it. But anyway, love that blog, love all their photos, just so much fun to look at in the morning with a cup of coffee.

Everything is lovely on this blog. I especially love their green scheme going on in their house. Love all those books, their wooden mustaches, the art installation they do, love it all.

At this blog, there are lots of lovely things and weekly giveaways of lovely things:) And its fun, because you answer a really nice question and then she chooses. So go and see and go and answer!

This pocket book that Lisa has made, is calling to me. I love it. Even the clutches, I think they would make such great Spring/Summer accessories.

I want to doodle like this girl something I ......................love the birdie with the earphone:) That is definitelyhavent done in awhile, drawn. Should really get back to it, I have so many empty skecthbooks and supplies.

In other news, today I did a slight sacrilegious thing.............................I cleaned my white Verses. Usually you want them to be all dirty, but mine looked so bad, too dirty, so now they are out on the porch drying.

Tonight my father is cooking our Corned Beef and Cabbage( a few days early, but good for me because I wont be able to make it here on St. Pat's day) Then after dinner I will catch a train out to see my good friend Erin. It will include a night of Rock Band(hoping, crossing my fingers) and Jerry and the Mermaids. A girls night out. Tomorrow we will be off to a parade out in West Hampton, so it should be a good finish to my week long vacation.

I think Ive done quite a bit of sharing and what have you, I'm out now:) Bye!

Rainy day part II...........................

Hey look at me, I have blogged at least 3 times this week, yay, im back.

So its official, I am going to Sisiversary. I was able to buy my ticket yesterday!!! I am so looking forward to meeting Jen, Sandy and Cynthia and of course everyone else. Jen, I will be at the airport converse and all:)

It has been a good week home so far, Monday I ran errands and on Tuesday I cleaned up a bit. I have a massive pile of stuff for a friend(scrapping stuff) she is just starting off with it and has no clue what to buy so I have put together a little beginner package. It also just felt great to destash finally and see the top of my desk, phewwwwwwwww.

I have been working on a Blythe doll. I took her apart and worked on her face...........................some sand matting, lip carving, eye carving, philtrum carving ,re did her makeup, and well now I just have to get her some new hair and I'm waiting for her clothes to come. I think I am may be addicted now, and I need another to re- do. Its so much fun, haha. Theres just something about them.

So tonight is Sushi and a movie(yes that movie) with my sister, then tomorrow is an overnight visit with my parents, followed by a trip out to the east end to visit my friend for the weekend. I am sure that part will involve a visit to our favorite dive bar where people get completely drunk and sing karaoke while we just sit and laugh:) Oh the joys.

Oh and I have forgot to say that I have rejoined The Creative Type as just a team member. I am so happy to have Sandy and Judean running the site, they are doing an awesome job. Also Shaina has revamped the place and it looks terrific. I am hoping to get my creative bug back with this move and I think it just may work!!

Rainy day..................

Today begins the first day of my week off:) Yay. Last night I made head way by unpacking and putting away stuff that piled up through the month of February. I had stuff from Comic Con(such as re-ment, lots of boxes) piles of books, comic books, mail, craft supplies. All pretty much straightened up last night. Today I will tackle the book shelf that has been falling apart. I will disassemble that and put all the books on the floor in a neat pile(for now) Then its off to the dreaded task of sorting through all of my supplies in my little craft corner. Oh boy. I have so much stuff still that I just wont be using so I have to make a pile and then figure out what to do with it from there. I have found another place that's located in Texas that takes ANY craft supplies. I have some yarn and what have you that is never gonna get used( old school yarn), so that along with little bits and pieces might find its new home down south and get some good use of it from people that cant afford supplies.

Before all of this, me and Will will brave the rain, bundled up in layers and hoods and head over to the post office(have to mail a package to a friend) the library(return movies) the hardware store(need to find sponge sand paper thingy) and the bank.

This is how I am starting my day, in hopes to get all chores and what have you done by tomorrow because the rest of the week I will not be home.

How about a little Bob Dylan to add to the mood??

For now at least! So, February was the never ending, action packed month, that is for sure. It all ended with one trip to FL to see my best friend and attend her baby shower. My flight was torture, at least the one on the way back. I had a small child sitting behind me who appeared to be UN-buckled during take off and through much of the flight. She kicked my seat, pulled my hair, drooled on me and then her mother decided to change her diaper half way through the flight( I am just to nice sometimes). I am not a parent, but isn't that why they have changing tables in the bathrooms that they make sure to bring up to you before take off??? If I was the guy sitting next to them, I would have had a fit, because the smell, oh it was FOUL!
I also flew back just in time before NY got hit by probably the only biggest(at least to us) snow storm of the season. So it was eventful.

I did want to share with you, finally, the quilt me and my mom worked on that I gifted my friend for her new addition that's on its way. I was quite proud of it, although my mom did most of the sewing.

I did sew a few panels(which my mom had to correct) but my main work on it was the hand stitching of her name(the babies) and a rose in 2 corners. I was going to make a really wild quilt with bright colors and fun, vintage sort of patterns, but I found out she was going for more of a muted tone sort of thing, so this is what we came up with. Simple yet pretty.
I like to think it will be something cherished for many years to come, and her aunt Patty made it just for her:)

Before I left for Florida(like the night before) I finally received my Blythe doll that I ordered(yes I am crazy) Just what I needed a new collection to start. I am currently in the process of customizing her, carving her face, just doing her up. This photo was her in her basic stock gear.
It my newest hobby, lol.

I have so many favorites saved over on Flickr of super awesome customized Blythe dolls, but I just cant figure out how to share them on here while giving credit to the person who owns each one and also took the picture, blahhhh. So I liked it up for you.

I think I am just running out of steam. It has been a very long day.

Last night I met up with Will(my super cool boyfriend) (he told me to say that, lol) and his friend and we saw "Watchmen", which in my personal opinion, was awesome!!! Oh, I have to tell you about one of the previews.............Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Billy Crudup all in one movie, YIKES. And its all about Gangsters from back in the day. Its called "Public Enemies"

After the movie we headed on over to Toy Tokyo and I was highly disappointed when the sign on the door said "CLOSED", errrrrrrrrrrrr, its Friday night, stay open later then 9pm would ya. The store is in the center of the East village, I mean the foot traffic alone on a Friday night should keep it open, at least for designer toy collectors like us!! Bummer. So after that UN eventful visit we headed down St. Marks to our bar, where we sat out in the back patio because it was like 60Ty degree weather here in NY. Kind of confusing though when your sipping beers and sitting on patio furniture. Aren't we still in the midst of Winter??? After the pub we hit up Pommes Frites, which if you are ever in NYC and the East Village in particular.................go there, especially after a few beers. The line was insane, everyone had the same idea as us. Basically they make the best Belgium Fries and they have lots of dipping sauces to choose from, my favorite is the Curry Ketchup, yum.
So it sounds like I had a good night right?? Yes I did, at least until it was time to transfer trains in Jamaica(for those non New Yorkers, Jamaica is like the train hub of the LIRR, you can connect to many other trains from this station) For those of you who know the LIRR, they always say "Be Careful of the Gap" The gap is the huge space between the train and the platform and there have been many accidents involving people falling in between them, even a few horrible deaths. As a daily commuter on the LIRR, I am always aware of how I step on and off and that's that. Well last night, as I was running through the trains, I slipped and I slid almost all the way down the gap. I was pretty much lodged in between the train and the concrete platform and had to pull my legs out. No one saw me, my boyfriend hadn't even realized because it happened so fast. All that ran through my mind was, I am going to be crushed when this train moves. Some random stranger put out his hand and pulled me out and as I looked up I realized that there were people standing around just in shock at what just happened. It was scary, I have to say, because within 2 minutes of getting out of that situation, the train I was lodged in between started up and left the station. Long story short, I effed up my left leg pretty bad and I filed a complaint. Ok the whole reason for the story, BE MINDFUL OF THE GAP! :)

Well, I wont be traveling on the LIRR for a week, because I have off!!! Yay. Time to catch up on piles of stuff that needs to be put away, thrown away, given away, yada yada yada. Also lots of sleep time, coffee time and friend time. Plus Sushi and a movie with my sister and a little weekend trip out east. Sounds great to me.

One very, exciting thing that I have decided on is to attend Sisiversary! Well, I know I have said that I havent been much of a scrap booker lately, but that dosent mean that I dont love all my friends that I have met through it. It was playing in my head for the past month, and then I saw so many people talking about how their going and I knew I just had to do it, I had to go and finally meet everyone and have fun with them. I think otherwise I would regret it. So in June I will be flying down to Tennessee!! Yay.

What else, well Im digging the new Q-Tip all the way. I am also loving this bird, his name is Frank!

Well thats about it, I think I updated this blog pretty well and I am hoping to get back into The Little Red suitcase soon as well. Hopefully during my week off. Im off to watch a movie, or make fun of my boyfriend who likes to clip his book light on his baseball cap so that he can see better when he sculpts. Hmmmmmmmmm...........................
