Its stuck in my head, I am the Walrus that is. OK , so its Thursday night, woot woot! Thats a grand thing because then tomorrow is Friday and I'm gone for the weekend. So last night I did some print ordering over on CVS, I was able to go through all of my Photobucket images and send them off to get printed!!! I'm excited, I did something like 107 photos, come Saturday I will have them all in my hands, yippeee. Hmmmmm, why am I excited about this you ask?? Well I ran out of pictures(ones I find worth while) to work with and I'm at a stand still for a contest I'm working on. I have all these ideas in my head and no images to add to them. I will be packing up all supplies and staying in this weekend at Will's while moving smoothly along with my plans for creative goodness. hahaha. Pizza, movies, beer, scrap booking, right Will????

This month is just jam packed with things, I am a bit overwhelmed and feel like I will not be able to follow through with a bunch of them. What is up with April this year?? Can we have May please???

The weather has been great lately, I have been able to walk out to the mailbox with no jacket on or shoes either:) Even though that may not be such a great idea, I just cant help it.

I am entering a few contests so I wont be able to post toooo much on here along the lines of layouts. I will try to post some stuff I have made though, stuff I wont be entering. Damn guidelines!!! Well thats pretty much it for the moment. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Happy Belated Easters:)

Well I guess Spring has officially sprung!!! I couldnt be any happier and looking forward to spring now then I was in say December, because after Spring is Summer and Im heading off to California for two weeks!!!! Just had to get that out!

As for Easter it was spent with Will's family, I spent most of the time on their couch, falling asleep, yikes!! hahaha. Will got me a great Hello Kitty basket that was filled with some scrap booking items, candy and other odds and ends, it was pretty sweet. I of course bought him a Superman Basket filled with mostly candy and some of his collectibles.

Today I spent the day with the little girl I take care of, we went to see Horton Hears a Who(which was great) then manicures and then sushi and Starbucks, it was a pretty good day.

When I got home I started finishing up my newest layout which is for my sister. I used her wedding photo and the lyrics from her wedding song which was Jack Johnson's "Better together":

I did this one with the remaining items I have left in my RVK, as well as some other supplies I have sitting around.

I tried to keep this one a little simpler so that the words became the focus as well as the photo.

Fiddeling around before the weekend

Imagine.....................

I have finished yet another layout using ONCE AGAIN the fabulous RVK for March. I have no clue what I will do when I have used every piece in this kit, its addicting and so awesome. I guess I will just have to make do with what I have:) right Will???

This time I have used a Polaroid of the "Imagine" mosaic in Central Park's Strawberry Fields. I am an avid listener of the Beatles, absolutely hands down one of my favorite bands and I have much respect for the late John Lennon. "Imagine" is such a beautiful/ melancholy sort of song, it always brings a tear to my eye. When I visited the memorial last summer I felt just so at peace sitting there and reflecting while listening to people play the guitar or sing some Beatles songs. I love this place so much and I will make it a habit to visit more often seeing that we do only live about an hour away.

I took several images of the mosaic that day, these have to be my favorite Polaroids taken to date. It only seemed suitable that I make its very own layout for this one, now I will cherish it even more:)

For this LO I basically clenched my teeth and ripped up two pieces of the paper that came in the kit. I made of a sort of match work mosaic which I painted in between with some gesso and then some blue paint. Oh before laying down the pieces, I crumpled a piece of the lined paper and glued that down for my journaling. I then added some felt pen details(once again) and placed my picture where I felt it fit best, painted around the picture with some blue paint, and added some stars. Below the image I added another piece of ripped lined paper for the rest of my journaling or title. I hand stitched in yellow all the squares together, and I also added some flowers to the left with hand stitched stems. A few buttons, staples and softies and I was done. Phewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, excuse me, I'm:

1) not so good at describing it all

and

2) not so good at capturing it in my make shift photo studio in the bathroom:)(it has the best lighting) lol

OH before I forget, the journaling is from part of the "Imagine" song, and it says:

"Imagine there's no countries, It isn't hard to do.

Yes I did say that:) My head is just brewing with ideas, one after another!!! Its just awesome, thank you, thank you. I have to say that alot of it has to do with all the wonderful blogs I read almost every day(they are located to the right, check them out) I tend to pull lots and lots of inspiration from each and everyone of those ladies. It seems that I have fallen upon a style that I enjoy the most, I started scrapping with the basic idea of scrapping until I realized that I can just let go. It was hard at first to rip beautiful pieces of paper and paint over things, but then it seemed only appropriate and it seemed to work. So that's about it for now, I just figured I would stop in and thank all of you for the great comments, they just motivate me and of course make me smile:)

All of you rock.

Aside from a sore throat I woke up with I am in the midst of working on another layout. I have been challenging myself to one a day. I love this newest one and cant wait to share it, hopefully by tonight.

OK I must get back to the messy painting details so I can work on the minor ones while attempting to hang out with a 9yr old and watch a movie!

RVK layout number 2 "Secret Garden"

Moving right along:) Well I woke up this morning and started scrapping, after I did my morning duties of course! I am loving this kit so much, the colors remind me of Spring, exactly what we need on rainy days such as these.

So this time I used a Polaroid I had from my visit to the Oyster Bay Planting fields last summer, which by the way are beautiful. This particular image was just of a gorgeous iron gate we came across on our way through the park. I liked the way it photographed as a silhouette of just a floral design against the pale sky(yada yada yada) The gate led into this hidden sort of garden, HENCE the idea of this layout and quote!!!

"The secret garden is always open now. Open and awake, and alive. If you look the right way, you can see the whole world is a garden."

I played around with some gesso, yellow paint, and once again some hand doodling with my handy dandy felt tip pen. I used some buttons, some yellow thread for hand stitching and I cut out some of the K.I memories Star Lace Card stock, which I painted yellow. Hmmmmmm, oh and I used the Jenni Bowlin fancy square sort of paper for a template, so that my layout didn't have a plain square look to it. Did that make any sense at all??

Wonderland and the joys of the RVK!!!!!!

Well the Red Velvet Kit was sitting on my floor for about 5 days, two of which I was not home, at all. Today I finally started messing with it and exploring all the possibilities and I have created a layout using one of my favorite Polaroids from the Alice in Wonderland sculpture in Central Park. I am quite happy with how it turned out and now here I am sharing it with you.

What I loved most about the kit was the papers that Stephanie DosReis created for the Daisy D's scrapbook line "Wonder Years" The colors were so feminine and soft, I loved how they seemed collaged already and they really made the page interesting. The lettering(Jenni Bowlin Chalkboard in black) that was included as well was so perfect because it played against all the softness of the papers and added a bit of edge to the piece. I went and used a page from the Alice in Wonderland coloring/story book I had purchased a bit back in hopes of using it for something such as this, it just adds an extra touch. The quote reads "How do you get to Wonderland?" and that is taken from the Alice in Wonderland song from the movie.

I think my favorite part is the hand detail I did with a fine tip felt pen, lots of little squiggles, dots, flowers and a border around the Polaroid. I enjoy using this technique I have realized:) Then there was some sewn on buttons, a few stitches here and there, a splatter of blue paint along the edges and then I sat back gave it a stare down and called it a day.

Now I must think of all the other fun things I'm gonna do with the rest of the kit I have, and there is alot left ladies and gentlemen. I will be sure to post my progress along the way!!!

Theres a Bulldog lounging in the Adirondack chair!

I just had to share this cute as hell picture. My sister makes fun that I take so many pictures of Spike, but he is just so damn cute, and he definitely has a funny/curious personality!!! So today I let him out on the deck to play while I try and vacuum the kitchen(he likes to attack me while I do this) and I decide to take a break and call Will, as I am sitting on the couch I peer out the window and there is Spike just relaxing in the child size Adirondack chair, hahaha. I thought it was just hilarious and adorable and of course I just had to take pictures, I know that some people would appreciate them and have a good laugh. I think he really knows what he is doing, he is always doing silly things and right when I get the camera out he always appears to pose, I'm serious!!!

Well that's that for now, maybe I will be back later with some new stuff other then bulldogs sitting on the deck:)

In other news it looks like I may be going off to California for two weeks in July!!! Today I'm going to start working around with the Red Velvet Kit and will share more later.

Oh the places youll go!!!!

I have finished my layout for the Scrap Mojo March, 5Th challenge!!!! I had fun doing this one, but I will admit, in the beginning I was a bit frustrated. I must have layed this out about 20Ty times before I settled on something that I liked. The whole thing was all layed out and ready to go and I started gluing pieces down, when all of a sudden my glue bottle became clogged I guess and I squeezed super hard and the whole thing popped and glue went all over my page:( Ahhh, I just sat there in shock for a good 3 minutes and then got to action cleaning it up. I cleaned up as much as possible and just continued on. So let me give you a little run down on this whole deal.

As far as products go, well I used mostly Scenic Route paper, KI products, and just found objects. I based the whole layout on Polaroids I took this past summer from a few day trips me and Will went on, I thought it would go along with the quote "Oh the places you ll go" pretty well. Behind the Polaroids I used a ripped piece of Dr. Seuss paper and a piece of Scenic Route, teal paper with an off white circle print(which reminded me of Dr. Seuss) I then cut out a few of the characters from the paper and placed them on the page as well. On the left I placed a red arrow and along side it I placed blue sequins to give it a little pop. Along with some journaling, staples, this and that's, it all came together!!

So there you have it.

Flap jacks and Dr. Suess

Yup I said flap jacks because I now own "Dan in Real life" My newest addition to my ever growing dvd library(oh flap jacks because of the cover image). I loved this movies so much when I saw it in the theatre by myself a few months ago and I have awaited its release on dvd. I have a thing for Steve Carells character, well I have had a thing for Steve back when he was in "The 40ty year old Virgin", hahaa!!! But in this movie he is just sooo endearing, you want him to get the girl so bad in the end. I'm watching it right now as I type:)
I found out today that "Juno" comes out next month!!!! Wow, that seems so fast, cant wait to have that in my hands as well.
Today we went up to my not so favorite store, Lord and Taylor. I did however have a good time at the NARS cosmetic counter doing a mini makeup session on myself. I also had the chance to paint my nails with some twenty dollar nail polish that I refuse to buy, I swear I dont do this all the time, it was a one time deal while waiting for the sales lady.

Ok I am attempting the Scrap Mojo challenge for this month. It is Dr. Seuss inspired with the title "Oh the places we will go!"

Um I was a bit frustrated for a bit, but then I realized that I had to loosen up and let go of my perfect, obsessive designing frame of mind. I think I finally put together something worth while BUT I have not fully committed. I am allowing it to stew over night and play with it more tomorrow. I have included a sneak peek!!!!!

I am also working on an "Imagine" chip board album, I have not yet decided on what is going to happen on the next few pages and what have you, but I have a bit of an idea. I have put it aside for now until I finish the Scrap Mojo challenge.

Longer days

When the winter comes along I enjoy the short days. I am a night owl, so when the sun goes down that is my key to relax and have some me time. However I find myself liking the long day that we had yesterday and the many more to come, hooray for more light. The other thing I like about the lighter evenings and darker mornings is that the light doesn't come in and settle on all the dust that re-situates itself over night until after my boss leaves for work, phew:)
This weekend was a big soggy mess, Converse and big rain puddles DO NOT MIX!
On Saturday I woke up super early with intentions of getting some coffee and heading over to The Happy Place for their garage sale, but nope, map quest once again led me on a wild goose chase, and with the torrential rain I GAVE UP!! Bummer:(
We did however go to Barnes and Noble and I got Keri Smith's book "Wreck this Journal" which is soooo much fun to well, ruin! At lunch on Sunday, I squirted some ketchup on one of the pages, Will's mom was a little boggled.

I also saw "Penelope" with Will and the outcome on that movie was dull.
Cute idea but nothing came of the film and it fell flat for us, maybe we just have way to many high expectations when it comes to films.
The popcorn was very good however and I got to tease Will about his jumbo size popcorn, A jumbo size for a dumbo, haha.

Have been loving this blog and her entertaining video blogging method. I have been soaking up all the information and ideas over there.

I finally got approved for my press pass into the NYC Comic Con, thank goodness, talk about last minute.

While browsing the dollar section at Target, I came across some cute scrap booking letters, Oh fun:) That had to be my surprise find for the day.

I heard a song that was strangely familiar to the life of a girl I know, and the girls name in the song was the same!

Stocked up on my every night meal, Lean Cuisine Pizza. It probably seems bad, but I love love pizza and the only way I can eat it every night is if I chose a more healthy alternative and that would be those Lean Cuisine pizzas:)

Well Happy Monday people,its not such a happy one though for our gov. of NY Mr. Spitzer, shame shame!!!!!! Why do these dirty politicians think they can get away with this sort of stuff? Why do they think it will never come out to the public?? HOW can his wife stand up there with him while he apologizes? I'm sorry but screw him,I just don't get it.

P.S: anyone a Big Lebowski fan??? Check out my new Bobble head "The Dude" Oh how I love that movie and him.

It is a fine day.....

So far:) Aside from the very long wait for my Venti Nonfat Iced Caramel Macchiato(pheww, enough words there for one drink?) and the iced up windows of my car that took ever so long to thaw, the day has started off hopeful and low key. Then again it is Friday, its beautiful out, I dont have much to do around this house, and by 6pmish I will be on my way to what I really call home still, Long Island.
I love Fridays!!!!!
For now im off to enjoy my coffee and a lowfat chocolate muffin, can it get any better?

mail sweet mail

Tomorrow is Friday! Woo hoo:) That means getting away for me, away from work which is also where I live. That is just so weird how I want to leave where I live every weekend. Most people look forward to the weekends so they can be home, sleep late, or even just be home bodies, me however I cant wait to get away from home for the weekend. Hmmmphhhhhh, I guess that's what comes with being a live in nanny. This weekend should be a good one, the scrap booking store near Will's is having a garage sale, hehehe, watch out here I come. Lucky Will, he gets to be my partner in crime, we shop very well together.

On to other things................I had two things come to me in the mail this week.
One was a pair of owl earrings handmade by my bead crazed sister, hahaha. Her kitchen table is just bins and boxes of beads and beads and more beads. I think she will be selling them soon if anyone is interested. I think she should, she makes really nice stuff, stuff I sure cant make. Theres my sisterly plug of my sister's handmade jewels.

The other item that came in the mail today was my prize from Freckled Nest!!!!! Sort of Funny story to go with that one. I was at the mail box and on the phone with my dad when I peered into the mailbox and noticed a package had come from Canada. As I was standing there and talking to my dad I hear this jingling coming from down the block, I turn and see this huge furry dog coming towards me. I was almost freaking out because you never know what dogs are friendly and which are just plan out vicious. I was saying to my dad "there is a huge dog coming towards me, oh no" and he walks right up to me and starts sniffing my leg, and I'm standing there acting like its a grizzly bear or something and I'm standing hella still. Long story short, I step on his leash that he is wearing as to capture him. I try to read his tag but he keeps snapping at my hand and hes really hyper. I give a call to his owner, she comes running down the road, bye bye Simba and hello box from Leigh-Ann.
Yes I just told that pointless story, but it went along with my story of receiving the Freckled Nest prize today:) haha

I have adopted a lone beta fish named Ernie. He is the former pet of the little girl I watch. She just does not do well with any pets. When I first moved here she had a beautiful little bird named Snowflake that I eventually talked her into giving away to my boyfriend. Then there was Ernie who swam in his murky bowl all day, just getting ignored, not fed, never had his bowl cleaned enough. I cleaned it today and moved him into my room, on my night stand, with a nice view of the picture of Will next to his bowl(he is staring at it right now)

Oh before I forget, while reading the Red Velvet blog I came across another wonderful blog to read......................A Little Deer!!!(love the name) I fell in love with her scrapbook line called "The Wonder Years" while in a local store a few weeks ago, little did I know she has a great blog to boot!! It fun to read the process of ideas, see the pictures of what inspires them, its just all good.

I love coming across creative people out there in the big ole world:)

"Into the Wild" is such a brilliant, compelling movie!!! However , its extra emotional knowing that all that went on and what takes place in the end REALLY did happen!!!
The whole movie just takes you on this journey of a young man traveling across the country on his way to Alaska to live in the wild, to connect to the land, to get away from all things materialistic, away from the cookie cutter way of life. Its such a heart string pulling, awakening film. I highly recommend it.

And of course Sean Penn was the creative eye behind the whole thing and the soundtrack was pretty good as well, it was done by Eddie Vedder.
