If you love Girl Scout Thin Mints, I highly recommend these bars by Zone Perfect. They have been a sweet tooth savior and today I winded up stocking up on about 14 of them. When I tell you they taste just like a Thin Mint cookie, I mean it. I am totally anti supplement bars because they usually wind up having that weird taste to them(I cant explain the weird taste, but they just do) Well one day I was watching these kids and their mother had packed them these bars as snacks, they are pretty picky kids and I was thinking they are gonna totally spit them out. Well nah, they gobbled them down, so of course I broke off a small piece and heck yay.
I would also recommend that you head on over to Target to get them because that is what spurred this post. I was there today and picked them up super cheap and just had to share. Yes my posts are rather random as of lately, dont ask.
I am currently in the process of gearing up for Summer. That entails getting the following: clothes, shoes, sunglasses and why of course some new makeup?! With all the traveling I'm doing I realize I have no makeup thats good for traveling. Every Christmas I ask for the great makeup box Ulta puts out(its jam packed full of nice makeup) However, its hard to travel with a box that big. Currently my travel makeup case is in disarray, a total mess. It had been this way since California(um that was last year to be exact) I really should be getting around to cleaning it out. It needs a major do over but the money it costs to do that can be through the roof. I recently came across this site awhile back while browsing blogs. I was a bit skeptical because everything is pretty much $1, but after reading further blogs where this girl talks about how nicely the makeup worked out, I was all over that. I thought it only proper to share it with all you, my blog friends. I will be sure to let know how my experience with this makeup goes as well. Another plus is that they are cruelty free and some of their profits go to Peta. Also, me being a nail polish junkie(I have about 2 baskets full of them, and my sister isn't slacking in the polish dept also) I am always on the lookout for new colors, new polishes, etc. I have currently been looking for an Azure sort of Turquoise color, a mushroom sort taupe color, and a grey color(not metallic) I found this blog by a nail polish addict who reviews and offers some great polish sites(yes this has turned into a makeup and nail polish post) So for those of you who are like me, its a great resource!
Ok I'm off to get ready, have to make a trip over to Target and the Whole food market. Till later:)
Oh one more thing, I have been meaning to post a video of this girl. Her music has that slight blue grass charm.
Did I even spell that right? Ok so I am going to the Jimmy Fallon show on Tuesday, and well I was just able to find out who is gonna be there............. Steve Martin and a guest performance by Paul Simon..........................cant wait.
And in honor of Paul Simon, I am gonna post a song by him, and a little something that's Steve Martin as well.
Well it does. I don't know what it is, perhaps that rainy days kind of fall into the laid back lazy category which I of course enjoy once in awhile:)Today I finally had a morning where I can sleep past 8am, so I slept till 10 am.
Can you believe that June is almost here? In just 2 weeks I will be going camping up in Vermont and then at the end of June is the SIS event, which I cannot wait for. I'm getting super excited about that, seeing all my friends from online pretty much. I feel like I have known them though for a very long time already. Should be just so much fun. I signed up for a class that Friday when we get there, I have never taken any scrapping classes or anything like that. I think it will be fun to learn something new and learn it with a bunch of new super talented friends.
This past weekend I went upstate for the long weekend. On Saturday was my uncle's Memorial. He had passed away in February and they had a "celebration of life" for him this past weekend. It was really nice, not all gloomy like a funeral. I got to see alot of my cousins that I hardly see, spend the day with them, laugh, talk, catch up.

After we said goodbye we just spent the rest of the weekend at my sister's house in the Catskills mountain. Of course that included lots of bugs, cooking out(eating to much) bonfires, and lots of movie watching. I love going up there, sometimes I just don't want to come home. This weekend will be my first one home in like 2 weeks. I haven't had a weekend to myself in quite some time. It gonna be nice, I will be able to get my act together, start getting some clothes for the summer, and getting The Creative Type's newest project done.
Before I go, I treated myself to something I needed and wanted last night.....................................
These are a big step for me, usually I wear $5 dollar glasses. I adore them though.Read more...
Yesterday me and my sister hiked all the way to Greenpoint Brooklyn to attend the Bust craftacular, and well it turned out to be a bust in my opinion. We arrived there around 12:30(it started at 12pm) We were surprised that the line wasn't bad at all, moving right along, all in good timing. The last time we went, re received free re-usable bags with a bunch of goodies in them, but not this time, they had ran out way to early. Once inside we realized just had crowded this little venue was, it was poorly organized, the isles were to narrow or perhaps there was just to many people crammed into one little space. At one point we were at a stand still in the middle isle and people were pushing and complaining, just so obnoxious and not enjoyable. I was able to actually check out one vendor because I was pretty much stuck in front of her table for a good 10 minutes, the poor girl behind the table was telling us how she was stuck behind her table unable to weasel her way through the crowd to the bathroom. After we made our way out of the mass cluster f**k(just had to use that phrase) we decided it was not worth the 4 dollars we invested on entering this show and we decided to leave. Very disappointing. Of course my sister went and complained to the people running the show, but they just didn't want to listen, didn't think it was important I suppose. To bad. There really should have been more crowd control, it was a true fire hazard, not as fun as the last one. And there is my rant on the Spring Bust Craftacular....................maybe better planning next time?!
So aside from the not so good time at the craft fair, we decided to find some new fun. Eventually we stumbled upon the Saint's Alp Tea house over on N 8th street.
They had some great Chinese dishes, lots of different noodle bowls(I had a green tea noodle lunch with shredded chicken), and they also had some tasty bubble tea.
I myself aren't that big on the tapioca part of the drink, I can only take so many of those little chewy things. But I do enjoy the process and the unique tastes that are offered. I had a black Coconut Milk Bubble tea and it was so awesome, loved it.
My sister liked mine better then hers and she winded up getting one to go. After that we just pretty much walked around Greenpoint, there are alot of cute little shops, cafes, and bars around the area. It has turned into quite the young hip, artistic community. To finish up the day we stumbled upon a really cool bar called the Brooklyn Surf Bar. It was like something out of Key West, they had tons of sand on the floor, surf boards on the ceiling and a long list of tropical tiki drinks and crazy shots galore. I will be sure to return again in the near future.
(Some great polaroid transfers at A&G, a really hip home furnishing shop)
Well all in all, after the bad beginning to the day, it winded up being a good one. It just goes to show that things don't always have to be planned out!Ok, I'm off to watch Gossip Girl and chill out. Tomorrow I have the day off, and well I need it:)
AND Happy Birthday Jen!!!!
Oh and I cant stop listening to this in the mornings when Im getting ready...........
Today was a day in the park, literally. I went and met up with my friend in Brooklyn and then after a very delayed subway trip(construction is going on as usual) We finally made it up to west 72ND. A pit stop at a local cafe and then we headed on over to the park. Its always such a pleasure to go to Central park, especially when its nice out. The only thing I have not learned yet, is that good shoes are key and sandals are not so good walking shoes! Gotta not go for looks and just go for comfort. My feet felt like they were on fire and when I got home, I was sure to use that foot bath that never gets used, ohhhhhhh heaven.
Anyway, I took a little video footage of a Central Park/ Strawberry fields performer. He is usually there singing his Beatles's songs, and he takes request. We requested across the Universe, but my camera could not take a long video, NOR a very good sound quality video.
Other then that, some photos of this and that's.
(The Dakota where John Lennon lived and died)
Tomorrow back into Brooklyn for the Bust Spring Craftacular. Gotta love their goodie bags and great hand crafted items. This trip will include a nice sushi lunch with my sister. Should be a good time, and you bet your bottom dollar that I will be wearing sneakers instead:)
Super excited about this............................
Um that's where we will be camping out on June 12th-June 14th. About 16 of us, having campfires, swimming in the gorge, basically having a blast. I had to share because I just received the email from my friend. I just adore camping, especially with cool people:)
Plus we are gonna take a trip to the good ole Benny Jerry's factory. Yum.
(Thats me trying to brainstorm a name for this post)
Once again, having trouble naming my posts here. I can never think up names for things, questions for surveys, anything along those lines. I get all frazzled and lost. Oh well.
May is coming and going oh so fast. My weekends are packed, not a break in site.
This weekend its two days in Brooklyn. Saturday visiting a friend in DUMBO and Sunday a trip to the Spring Bust Craftacular and Sushi with my sister. Gotta love the Craftacular and all the free goodies as well as awesome hand crafted goods to purchase. I am on the lookout for a new bag(tote preferably) As well as some earrings. I seem to be earring less these days and now that my hair is growing out again, I need to uncover my lobes and show them off with some cute jewels.
Last night we went and saw Star Trek, which by the way, if I do say so myself, was pretty darn good. I am just one of those people who are anti action/ sci fi movie goer. I like dramas and comedies, but once in awhile I will cave into the said above because my boyfriend enjoys them and well you have to make sacrifices. I actually stayed awake(I fell asleep in Iron Man) and I enjoyed the whole movie. So I say go see it!!!!
Well, I think I have run out of exciting news for this post, haha.
I do want to share 4 things I came across this past week.
1. First off...................................love this illustrator, and the book as well. But just check out her work.
So much detail and color, love it all.
2. Nectar and Light is a great blog focused around beautiful Polaroids. Oh so lovely.
3. How cool is thisnail polish?? Not only is is paint and peel(you dont need harsh nail polish to remove it) But it comes in all the shades I have been on the hunt for. I am in love with the color Moss(great name for Spring/Summer) and the Azure. Anthropologiecarries some of the colors.
4. I have been all about the green. I love how this time of year looks. Its so fresh and alive, and so much green. I have been working on a collage of sorts using all green patterned paper. I haven't had much of a chance to really work on it, but here is a peak. Plus the picture is not the greatest. My camera's batteries have died and I used my computer camera which is not the best. But you get the idea.
First off, I love this bear. Yes I know that they can be very nasty, but this one looks so chill(almost like he smoked something before he went dumpster diving) This was taken in Fl by some news crew. Watch it till the end, that's when he actually jumps in the dumpster and at one point slides in.
I'm off today(Tuesday is my off day) I am still recovering from a crazy weekend. As I have talked about before, I was up in Philly this past Saturday-Sunday for The Dead concert. It was the last show they would be playing at the Spectrum because its getting knocked down soon(as soon as they can fit it into the budget)
On the way there, we were a bunch of silly girls. One disclaimer.....................the driver was not drinking anything except water) We got to the venue around 4ish(after many pee stops and trying to find parking) The place was packed. I don't know if you have ever been to a Dead show before, but usually when they take place at a venue with outdoor parking, its usually like a big festival out in the parking lot. Lots of vendors of clothes, food, jewelery, music, etc. Lots of old friends, new friends, good times had by all.
A special video for all of you................... P.S the sound stinks, which is sort of good because I CANT SING!
The show started at 7:30, and by the time we got into the Spectrum it was so packed. I mean not only were our seats taken, but also there was really not place to even stand. Me and my friend eventually wandered outside and ended up hanging out with a friend I haven't seen in awhile. We winded up bumping into him as he was trying to get in with his special pass.
This a video from inside the show..................
We stayed in the lot until 1am ish and then headed on down to the hotel room that was being shared by about 10 people. I slept under a very comfortable bed made by my friend located under a desk, haha. We woke up at around 11am and were out the door. Headed to the airport to drop off another friend and then of course off to eat Vegan and meaty Philly Cheese steaks. It was a great way to end the weekend, but I'm not used to it, so by Monday I slept through my alarm clock and was deprived of sleep.
So, we are almost to SISaversary(if I spelled that right) I am getting really excited to see all of the awesome girls. I will be bringing my video camera, sp be prepared to take silly videos like the one above. And Jen, im getting the Ipod ready for that trip up to Franklin........................Joan Jett and all:)
And on one last note..............................The Creative Type has its new prompt up. The girls were sick so we got delayed. Head on over there now, its all systems a go.
Well its Monday, AGAIN. It just always seems to be Monday, why is that? The weekends always tend to fly on by, in a blink of an eye(oh snap I rhymed) So this weekend was spent with my friends on the road to Philly to see the Dead. It has drained me of every drop of energy and I am looking forward to a Tuesday off tomorrow.
Anyway, not gonna get into all of that at this moment. Will fill you in with all the fun details later.
For now I will leave you with a favorite rainy day(or week in my NY case) song.
