Highly recommend...........

That if Peter Bjorn and John play in your area..................go and see them!

Me and Will got there pretty early, didn't know that they wouldn't go on until 10:30(tickets said 8pm) We were able to get our standing places pretty early on and right up next to the stage. It made the show even more enjoyable. There was two opening bands, one of which I cant remember their name(sorry) But the other was Chairlift. Both were great, and Chairlift live made me appreciate their music more which I have on my Ipod but hardly listen to. They have a very unique sound.

Peter Bjorn and John did an amazing job, they sound so good live. There are alot of bands out there that just cant swing a live show. Like theres no energy in the show when they perform, and their voices come off a bit harsh. However, they went above and beyond, and of course adore Peter(the lead singer). He was super sexy in his mod clothes and the way he moved definitely put me in awe(laugh now, I know).

Aside from that he really got me at the end when he started bursting out "Transmission" by Joy Division. He sounded pretty close to Ian Curtis, and it was a great way to end the show.

We were so close, I had him dancing and playing his guitar so close to me, he almost stepped on my fingers. And then towards the end, he jumped right over Will's head(almost hitting him with his guitar and whipping us with his wire, its all good) and landed on a speaker to perform the rest of a song. Good times.

I have some pictures on my phone, but Im having a problem uploading them, oh well.

This is a clip from Youtube that someone filmed of them singing "Young Folks" last night. Loved how they got down.

This video is longer and shows the whole song, but its not great quality.

Loved it.

Now one more day and me and my friends will heading out early Saturday to Philly to partake in some Dead celebrations. We will be seeing them at the Spectrum in Philadelphia, so we will have about a 3-4 hour drive ahead of us. Of course we have to get their pretty early so we can socialize and hang out in the parking lot, that's just what you do at a Dead show before the show. Good times. Last time I hung out in a Dead show parking lot I got my tongue pierced(back in 2001) I don't think I will be doing anything crazy like that again. Promise.

The Creative Type #16 and other ramblings.

Right now I am enjoying a bowl of plain yogurt with some fiber granola cereal for crunch and some honey, yum. That has been my go to hunger snack.

I am getting psyched for tonight's Peter Bjorn and John show, should be fun. I think I have mentioned the show here and there. Its over at Webster hall and its all standing room only, so that mean plenty of opportunity to squeeze my way to the front.

The hot weather has finally broken today, we are enjoying the day with a much cooler, breezy Spring day, my favorite. I started to freak out there a bit, I wasn't fully ready. The one thing I hate about the city is the Summer. I mean its got its own charm, but when it comes to crowded Subway and people not washing themselves or wearing deodorant, that's where I beg to differ. There really isn't any air flow with all the buildings, so the Summer can be a tad more brutal here.

But at the end of the day, I always have the option of jumping into the bay at the end of my block, thank goodness:)

Ok, enough rambling about odds and ends. Its time for a new prompt over at The Creative Type. So what does your handwriting say about you?? Head on over to The Creative Type, take one of the analysis tests and then create a layout all about it.

Its not summer yet.

But yet its like almost ninety degrees out, ick. I mean I love Summer, I love going to the beach, swimming in the salt water, working on my tan, eating ices from the the ice stand on the corner, I love it all. But this, this is to soon. I don't even have any shorts, there is no nice shade of nail polish on my toes, and well, I am just still in that Spring stage in my head. So please, hot weather, go away at least until June. Thank you:)

With that said, today I spent the day at the park with my boyfriend, his brother, his two nephews and my boyfriend's mother. I of course wore jeans(like I said, I have no summer clothes) but I think that cherry ice really pulled my spirits up. It was a good day in the end. Tomorrow and Tuesday should be warm as well and then back to Spring weather on Wed. Its crazy, we have the AC going full blast right now as I type.

Wed night we have our Peter Bjorn and John Concert with Chairlift opening for them, cannot wait. I bought these tickets for Will's Valentines day gift. It was a gift to myself as well.

Then on Saturday I am heading off to Philly to see The Dead. Should be a fun trip, all girls and a 3 hour car trip. Hopefully the weather is much cooler.

Right now I just deleted ALL of my songs off my Ipod and I am starting from scratch. I enjoy a good refreshing here and there when it comes to my play list. Sometimes things just start to go stale and I need to revamp. Do you know what I mean?? Anyone have any good recommendations for Spring/Summer music??

Ok, off to be the procrastinator I am and work on my Creative Type prompt.

Happy Friday.......

This is my Friday song, listening to it on my way into the city.

Back to work, and then later a night out on the town.

Time has flown away from me again!

It seems my days here at this blog have been very minimal. I lose track so easily, get sidetracked, do other things online.

I really don't have much to blog about lately as well, but I know I will in the upcoming weeks, months.

Summer is on its way(I know its still Spring) BUT its gonna be eighty degrees here this weekend. I will be heading on down to the beach(its about 500 feet away or so) We didn't get to go to the Bronx zoo on Tuesday for Will's birthday, so most likely next weekend. They are having a special where if you show your Metro card you get one ticket half off, this is just until May and during the week.

Next Wed. we are off to see Peter Bjorn and John(YAY) Cannot wait, and then the following weekend I may be heading off to see The Dead play out of state(not sure yet, but I already promised months ago to a good friend)

May is gonna be a busy month, and then in July I will be having off for a few weeks because the family I work for is going away. I guess I will figure it all out along the way.

This blog post is really not exciting.

In way more exciting news, my best friend had her baby last night at 11pm. She was a big girl, 9lbs.............................................holy cow!!! I am so excited for this new addition into our little circle of friends and cannot wait to meet her this summer. That made my day.

And now my blog post is over, because its not going anywhere, lol.

Thursday, April 16, 2009

Hello, Hello, hello:)

So I can never think of a name or title as its put for my blog entries. Its just this problem of mine each time, so I just put whatever. Today its "Hello, Hello, hello:)" Good enough, hehe.

Easter weekend was good, I spent a night over my sister's and two over my parents. I watched about 4 movies, Doubt, The Secret Life of Bees, Australia, and Marley and Me(again). Doubt was by far my favorite, the acting was amazing and it had two of my favorite actors in it(Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman) Great story line, a real thinker. Speaking of Philip Seymour Hoffman, about 2 weeks ago I finally watched Synecdoche New York................another great film but definitely a mind boggler. Oh, you gotta love Netflix, I have been a member of them for like 3 years and its always just great to have movies delivered to you. Cheaper to.

One movie I am really looking forward to is Grey Gardens with Drew Barrymore(its airing on HBO on April 18th)

Last Summer me and Will watched the Grey Garden documentary from 1975 which was done by the Maysles brothers.

It was such an intriguing piece about two of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis family members who lived out on the South Fork of Long Island( The Hamptons) Very eccentric women living in their family house in total isolation and if I do say so myself, pretty messy and unkempt. I dont know if you have ever been out to the Hamptons, but there are some very beautiful houses out there, big grand houses. Their house though back then was like a sore thumb and they had huge problems with the Suffolk County Health Department. Anyway, you must see the documentary and then see the film. Interesting stuff, a side of such a well known family that you probably didnt know about.

Tonight I am going to see the Broadway play "9 to 5". I vaguely remember the film(is that bad? I remember Dolly Parton in it though) But I was invited along and of course I said yes, who could say no to a free play? Plus Allison Janney is in it, which is pretty cool. I will be sure to let you know how it was tomorrow.

This weekend should be a somewhat busy one. On Friday my sister and her friend are having a Pampered Chef party and me and my friend are gonna go(we dont cook much though) Then on Saturday I will be going to pick up alot of stuff that I had left behind at an ex roomates home about 2 years ago. Lots of pictures and things that I havent seen in awhile, im a tad excited about this. I believe I have a whole summer of pictures that I will be getting back, hopefully I can scan them and get them up on the computer.

"Look" The Creative Type prompt #15

Easter has left me missing in action. I have been away from home, which means away from my very loved laptop. Its not such a bad thing, seeing a break from the Internet is always good, but I always feel like i have to do major catching up as soon as I turn it on again. It does play a bit of a role in my life that is for sure, because it keeps me in touch with everyone, it inspires me, and I learn alot while browsing this and that's. So, here I am, logged into my parents computer making my post and doing some catching up before I head home:)

Where has April gone I ask?? Can you believe that its almost May? I cant. I am getting excited about June and my trip to Nashville(SIS anniversary event). Except I still need to book my flight, I have to decide what airport to fly out of( we have about 4 airports around us and I would say 2 of them are major and one of them offers more deals) I will have to chose one sooner or later.

I am also ready for Summer, beach trips, road trips, BBQs, sitting outside at night with friends(getting bit by bugs, yes that comes with summer) And then before you know it, I will be ready for Fall again, such is life:)

Anyway, we have a new prompt up over on The Creative Type. Prompt #15 is all about writing on your photos. Whether you use a sharpie, stamps, pen, Thickers(gotta love those) or paint which is what I used. Write away, but do it on your pictures(dont be scared!).

This layout has a Polaroid I took of some up close bark on a tree over in Central Park NY. I used a very tree/nature inspired quote to go along with the nature themed piece.

" Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better" I Googled nature quotes and I came across this one, felt it was a good fit. Sorry, I forgot who wrote it(shame on me) I am sure you could google it and find out, good ole google.

The background was an experiment that I did. Its like a collage effect, I used numerous pieces of patterned paper and made some sort of 2-D effect, I love the way it came out, almost mimics tree bark.

Well, be sure to check out the new prompt. Because with each new prompt we have a great guest designer, a great prize and of course great layouts done by all the fabulous Typists!! And also we always have fun. Oh, and if you Twitter, be sure to add us. You will find the link on the right hand side of our blog. This will keep you up to date with all the Creative Type going ons.

Ok, back to getting ready to head on home.

Hippity Hoppy

Vintage greetings are always so much more fun. A little creepy but they work their magic. have a wonderful day:)

Oh NYC

So as most of you know, I work in the city. This is pretty much how my day goes:

Wake up(or hardly wake up) at 5 am(most days) I usually hit snooze alot.
Struggle to get ready
Catch the train, and enjoy the emptiness and silence until 4Th or 5Th stop in.
Pretend I am asleep so no one tries to sit next to me(hehe)
Get herded off the train to transfer to other crowded train(the good ole LIRR).
Stand on 2ND train, while watching fat business men sleep with their mouths open(where have their manners gone, the days when men would give women their seats?) Some of them even snoring.
Get herded out into Penn station, and gun it for the subway downtown.
Find best possible standing position on subway, being careful to keep balance while the train sways back and forth and becomes more crowded. This is where any personal space boundaries get broken at 8 in the morning, not a great feeling.
I finally hit fresh air around 8:10am, I can breath and I am no longer squished.
Now its coffee time(my favorite time of the morning) Head on over to Starbucks, grab a cup of coffee(usually regular coffee for me) grab a chair, sit and watch the people walking outside sometimes enjoy an orphaned paper thats left on the table.
Around 8:21 am or so, time to move along. This is when I step out of Starbucks on Spring and Varick, stand on the corner waiting for the light to change so I can continue on. I look down and there engraved into what once was wet concrete, now says " Trump is a Monster" Donald Trump that is. I look up to the left and I reminded of why someone has written this into the sidewalk, he is currently building a giant eye sore apartment building which is constructed of pretty much all glass. It takes away from any SoHo charm that is left at this end of Spring. The man is a monster, I mean he even has a horrible tv show to boot.

The light changes, I move along, I arrive at work at 8:27 am and I am greeted by a smiling, giggling little baby. So my commute is well worth it, and the writing in the sidewalk always makes me laugh in a way. With that all aside, there is nothing like a NYC morning.

Hmmmmmphhhhhh.............

That seems to be my word of choice lately! Today I was off from work(Tuesdays are my usual day off) Me and Will went for a walk downtown, ran some errands and such. I bought something so gross from the 5 and dime store over here in town. BUT I cant blog about it yet, its part of a master plan I have for someone or something, tee heeee heee:) I'm evil.

Of course we though it would be great to have an afternoon pint..............................what were we thinking? We winded up having like 3 a piece, while sitting there and thinking how lame we must look to the bartender and the other folk eating lunch at this really nice pub. Not the greatest idea. After that we hit up the hot dog stand and got a pretzel, and well after that we took naps. There went my day, haha. Note to self, no pints on a Tuesday at 2pm........ruins rest of day, ick.

After my nap I felt like doo, total doo. Blah. I eventually came around and watched "Marley and Me" which was fantastic. I thought all along that maybe it was raved to much about, but after watching it I understand why. Anyone that has had a pet and lost a pet, would really connect with the story. Plus its a wholesome good movie, which we hardly watch much of now a days. No sex, bad words, drugs, violence, none of that. So I will be bringing it with me to my parents to watch this Easter weekend(even though it has its sad ending)

I cant believe that its almost mid April. My very best friend is about to have her baby any day, I am awaiting the phone call. And also I have many a birthdays this month. Many. One of them will include a trip to the Bronx zoo, another a trip to a Mexican restaurant. And to end the month off, we have our Peter Bjorn and John concert.

Notes to self for April:

Get plane tickets to Nashville

Look into new, better suited phone service.

Walk more to Penn station, cut out the nasty subway and use it as a way to personally protest fare hikes(hey I know its a drop in the bucket, but its good for me)

Finish the same damn book I have been reading since March! And of course I finished reading another in the process of reading this one.

Switch banks possibly.

Well that could possibly be about it for now. I have to get this stuff out, it rolls around in my mind and then sooner or later I am wondering what it was I was planning on doing. April seems so overwhelming, I thought it wouldnt be, but I was wrong. Hopefully I cut some breaks in May.

Sunday? Hello!

Bummer this weekend went so fast. Um and I was such a pig to. I had a two scoop sundae yesterday)Cake batter ice cream) and a nice cadbury egg to follow later that night. Enough is enough!!!! Back to non sugar tomorrow I suppose.

Someone needs to keep me away from ebay, I am an ebayaholic. Its crazy bad. Bad, bad!

Hmmmmmphhhhhhh................................

Enjoyed this band last night on SNL:

I'm thinking I should start a separate place to store all my pictures and thoughts on all of my cute obsession. Perhaps a nice little site at Tumblr.

Back to my coffee:)

Welcome Saturday:)

So, what to say, what to say. Woke up this morning to multiple boxes(thank you USPS) I have an addiction, I do attest, its called re-ment and currently I am working on collecting a few collections that are just to adorable(did I mention that we are a toy collecting house?) haha.

This is Kawaii Kitchen:

Love this set oh so much. So much detail, and who couldn't love that espresso machine????

Its a problem:)

Today is a laid back sort of day, its still a tad gloomy out. We have to visit storage and shed ourselves of all my winter crap, coats, boots the whole deal. I sense that I will get back plenty of room after I do this, thank goodness. I am holding off though on buying some spring clothes, would like to shed some winter weight as well, ick. I have started walking back to Penn Station after work from SoHo and that's a good 40Ty blocks of so. Anything is better then the subway at rush hour, I rather walk that distance and get some fresh air. Now if it would only stop raining!

I wanted to mention that one of my friends has started a food blog. She is a fabulous cook and loves to try out new recipes, restaurants, kitchen gadgets, etc and she thought it would be wonderful idea to share all of her culinary experiences. I think its a great idea as well. So if your a foodie, or new to the kitchen...............perhaps you should visit her blog....................Caits Plate.

The new bird is doing good, or perhaps Sunshine is doing good. We have figured out that she is rather young, by the way her eyes have no rings, her feet are huge and how also she seems to have some baby feathers. So she may be only like 3 months old. She has finally started whistling and moving more in her cage, it is a slow transition. I think she is afraid of me because I'm not home that much. So those that are, well she is more comfortable with them. All in all though she is a sweetie.

Before I go, I wanted to share this very creative story. I was on CNN reading all the god awful news(another shooting?!!!!) and I actually came across something rather inspiring and fun. Two teenagers decided to make their prom dresses out of duct tape!! The girl actually wrapped the colored duct tape around yarn and then knitted it, how cool is that?? Anyway here is the video:

And doesn't this indie film look interesting?

Ok im done purging:)

Blythe in Nirvana

Yay, I received my custom Nirvana T-Shirt for my Blythe today. Couldn't be happier.......................this very sweet lady over on ETSY hooked me up. She pretty much can put any image you would like onto a t-shirt for your Blythe doll. I of course wanted a Nirvana one:)

AND DONT forget to head on over to The Creative Type for the newest prompt. Great guest designer and prize as well:)
